Our teams are off to Kamloops Saturday for their final game of the 2026 season and the away leg of the Annual Reid Davidson Charity Shield. The teams are excited for the trip and the chance to play for some late season hardware! This year marks the third edition of the competition and the clubs have each won the Shield once! The teams split the games in Nanaimo early in the season but Nanaimo has a slight lead on aggregate goals at 2 - 1. The men secured a 2-0 victory, while the women fell 1-0 in a tough, back-and-forth battle. It’s all to play for Saturday!
The first leg of the Shield in Nanaimo in April.
The Shield honours and remembers Reid Davidson, who was a significant part of both the Nanaimo and Kamloops soccer communities. He grew up in the Kamloops youth soccer community and then moved to the Island to attend and play at VIU. He became very involved with Nanaimo United FC as both a player and, after graduation, the club's Member Services Coordinator.
In 2024, Reid’s family and the two clubs worked together to launch the Charity Shield as a chance to honour Reid and bring the communities together and it has become a cherished and important part of each club’s calendar.
