First game of the week done, two to go! Both our squads brought home a point on Saturday, with both games ending in 2-2 against the Burnaby FC teams.

Middle: Erin Jensen, Right: Mary Nicholls.

Men’s keeper and women’s goalkeeper coach, Michael Heppelle gave us the low down about the men’s game:

It was a very close game, and I’m very proud of how the team responded, especially after a tough call penalty in the first five minutes. Some players got their first opportunity at this level, and I was really happy with how they handled themselves—they showed great composure and presence.

A special shoutout to Charlie for scoring two well-earned goals.

There’s still a lot for us to improve and tidy up as a team, but we’re also seeing clear progress. I truly believe our first three points are just around the corner.

On the women’s side, Erin Jensen and Mary Nicholls put the ladies on the score board. The squad almost secured their first win, but Burnaby snuck in a late goal.

Did you know that Mary and Erin have been playing together in Ladysmith and Nanaimo since they were 11 years old? The two have played in the BCPL for over 3 years now - check out one of our articles from 2024 about their experience growing up together playing soccer on the island.
